About Old Merchant Taylors’ Hockey Club

About OMT Hockey Club

50 Years of history and friendship

From a traditional old boys’ club to a leading community hockey club in North London. Our members are now from all over London and all walks of life and our aspirations have grown; we are becoming the leading hockey club in North London.

OMT’s is developing into a hockey powerhouse. We have the best facilities and are striving to ensure we have leading hockey teams, the best and most progressive Junior Section in the country, and above all, the friendliest and most welcoming club in the country. As a club we have and will continue to conduct ourselves on and off the pitch in a way that our younger players can learn from.

The investment and progression

In 2011, the club was made up of 4 ageing men’s sides.  in the last 7 years, the club has invested heavily and changed leadership. It now has thriving Men’s, Women’s and Junior’s sections.

With the support of the School and the Strikers committee, there has been a constant stream of youth into the OMT Hockey Club over the years and significant investment.

The club has invested heavily in coaching, especially in the Junior section.

We have the most incredible coaches, technology and facilities.

The hockey pitches are located next to our fantastic OMT War Memorial Clubhouse. This facility is open to all of our members at both training and games with modern changing room, bar, social and meeting room facilities, balcony area, as well as both Sky and BT Sport viewing on 3 large plasma TV screens.

Both our pitches and clubhouse are situated within the grounds of Merchant Taylors’ School, a safe and friendly environment that is within the easy walking distance of Moor Park tube station and is also close to the M25.

Building a hockey HUB for the North London area

Our vision is simple, to have our hockey club reflect our amazing facilities, but most importantly a club created by and for its members.

We’ve recently launched our Junior Section who have already reached the National U18 Indoor Club Finals and regularly compete with the National Premier League clubs.

We are committed to ensuring consistent quality coaching, incorporating innovation and added value. We’re striving to provide the best value of any club in the UK. Our players will all have the chance to develop, enjoy and perform.

Hall of Fame

OMT Hockey Club understands the importance of its members, past and present, in the building and development of the club. As part of our 50th anniversary celebrations, the club sought to recognise the achievements of members, and established a ‘Honorary Life Membership‘ for those deserving of such a title.

At the AGM in 2015, the first Honorary Life Member was elected, and others have since been included in our own OMT Hockey Club ‘Hall of Fame’.
